Uh, nice hairdo?

The young women in our ward get to play volleyball this fall, and apparently they have different themes each week - last week being crazy socks, this week - crazy hair.  Kimberly and her friend, Kylee, took it to new heights.  I asked them how they planned to play volleyball and keep those hairdos in place.  They proceeded to show me their best volleyball moves whilst keeping hair intact.  Apparently hairspray does indeed work.

So, you are probably wondering who the heck this Kylee girl is, especially if you've only ever seen Kimberly attached to the hip of her best friend Evie for the last 8 years.  Don't worry, Kimberly and Evie are still the best of friends and hang out very regularly, but now that we are in a new ward and neighborhood, Kimberly has had to branch out and make some new friends.

Enter Kylee.  They are in several classes together at the junior high and get along really well, often "hanging" out at each other's houses.  In chatting with one of their young women leaders a few weeks ago, she told me how pleased she was to see the two of them become such fast friends, and had hoped someone like Kimberly would move in for Kylee since there wasn't anyone else really her age that she fit in with.

So glad we could be the answer to someone else's prayer, when in fact, my prayers of having Kim find a new friend in our new area was answered too.  Of all the girls, Kimberly was the saddest about moving, so it gives me chills knowing our Heavenly Father knows our needs and watches out for us, even when it comes to small things like making new friends.

As for the rest of us in our new ward, we are quickly realizing this ward is just as wonderful as the ward we left.  I'm sure you have all heard the story of the bishop who asked the newcomers how they liked their last ward, to which they replied by saying they loved it.  The bishop smiled, and said they would love their new ward too.  I truly believe that is the case with us.

We have been here for two months, and we are still getting treats and welcome visits from people in the ward - just this week a plate of cookies from a whole family who biked over here on Monday night to introduce themselves, a couple who brought over a watermelon last week, and another family who brought over some ever-so-delicious spice cookies.  Still dreaming about those...must get the recipe.

Before this becomes a novel, I shall end here.  Suffice it to say, I think I will go see how much hairspray I have left...
